The Best nightlife areas of Rotterdam

To get your bearings and find your way around the party scene, look out for glossy party flyers in cafes, record stores, and clothes shops selling clubbing gear. The best nights tend to be Thursday to Saturday, 11 PM to 5 AM. Most venues have a clubbing floor, with DJs working the crowd and more ambient rooms for smoking or just plain relaxing. From hard-core techno -- whose birthplace was right here in Rotterdam -- to early hour chill-out cafes, there is a wide range of possiblities for nighttime entertainment. West Kruiskade (also known as China Town) is the place to go if you want lively bars and music from around the world. Nieuwe Binnenweg and Witte de Withstraat have many busy late-night cafes and clubs. Oude Haven is particularly popular with students, while the Schouwbergplein is favored by visitors to the nearby theaters and cinemas. Stadshuisplein has a number of pretty tacky discos and bars. Kop van Zuid has several bars worth visiting.
