Rotterdam is a true paradise for fun-shopping, a place to see and be seen, especially on the famous Lijnbaan, the Beurstraverse and the surrounding streets, with a variety of chain stores and many small, often unique and exotic shops.

Exclusive

'Shop till you drop' in exclusive businesses and trendy shops located along the Pannenkoekstraat, Delfshaven, Witte de Withstraat, Van Oldebarneveltstraat, de Kruiskade or Nieuwe Binnenweg, among other areas. Besides their normal opening hours, the shops in the centre are open every Sunday afternoon and Friday evening.

Largest open-air market

The weekly market is held on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Tuesday at the Binnenrotte, the largest open-air market square in the Netherlands. In the warmer months, from April to December, the market is also open on Sunday afternoons.

Exotic

Vast quantities of exotic merchandise are sold in the many Chinese, Surinamese, Mediterranean and Arabic stores located primarily around the West Kruiskade.

Covered shopping

Particularly interesting shopping is available in the large covered shopping areas at major intersections of public transport and roads outside the city centre. One example of such a shopping area is the Zuidplein shopping centre, the beating heart of commerce south of the Maas River. To the northeast of the city centre lies Oosterhof/Alexandrium, one of the largest shopping centres in all of the Netherlands, which includes an extensive range of exclusive home decorating stores.
